What Facilitators & Resultants can learn ....

I feel extremely privileged to meet the many people I do through my work. One of the most rewarding aspects of the job is that from every participant I learn something new at each training session.
Using this blog I would like to share some of my learning with you. I will never mention from who the learning came, nor will I mention the names of any companies.
I hope you can relate to, and find benefit from these snippets of practical wisdom .. please feel free to subscribe to this blog and to add any comments you wish...

Sales Managers often ask me, "Why don't many sellers ask the "right" questions?"

Here are my findings directly from the sellers themselves.....
1. “I will lose control of the call.”
2. “The client will think I am not prepared”
3.  "The client might object."
4.  "I don't want to risk offending the client"
5. "Questions might raise negative issues."
6.  "My job is to have answers – not questions."
7.  "I’m experienced and I ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWERS"

Please feel free to add any other reasons which you have heard or felt yourself as a comment ....

The importance of "follow up" after corporate training

"One thing I've learned from being a youth wrestling coach is that you  can't just teach a topic once and assume everyone gets it....instead I repeatedly go back and review the topic multiple times during the year."

This senior executive's real-life metaphor was used to highlight an actual business need.
Excellent leadership and learning so often comes from everyday life experiences...

Successful Coaching..

"You cannot coach someone to achieve a goal which they did not set themselves."

I suspect that many people in developing countries tell the NGOs about goals, which they think they are expected to have ... rather than those which are most important to them ..

In the business world it is no different !

For those who say they cannot visualise...

If you can create a picture in your head... you are more than half way there to achieving what lies within that image...

I often use guided visualisation in my training sessions...  some people do say that they have trouble visualising things.. They say that they are "only auditory" .. or "very kinaesthetic" ...

The answer lies in the following questions....
Do you have a car?
What colour is it?
Brown!
Does it have the letters B R O W N written on it?
